Congratulations to Phil Pecora
Congratulations to Genesee Regional Bank’s (GRB) President and CEO Philip Pecora on being named to the Rochester Business Journal’s (RBJ) Power 30 Banking & Finance 2026 list.
From the RBJ Power 30 Banking & Finance article, “The list includes individuals who spend their careers helping members of the Rochester community navigate increasingly ever-changing financial circumstances.”

Keeping the Community in Banking
Under Pecora’s leadership, GRB has grown into a community bank with more than $1.3B in assets and employing close to 180 people in Western and Central NY. As the bank celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, Pecora reflected on the cross-section of relationship banking and technology that is the hallmark of how GRB operates today.
“As a community bank, GRB’s greatest differentiator has always been the personal relationships we develop and build with our clients,” said Pecora. “That focus is enduring — it is at the heart of who we are and remains central to every technological advancement and product offering we pursue. At the same time, staying current with developments in banking and ensuring our clients have access to relevant, effective technology is no longer optional; it is essential.”
Meeting Community Needs
According to Pecora, one of the key’s to GRB’s continued growth is the bank’s unique focus on the Rochester community.
“Rochester is a close-knit, deeply connected community — one where relationships matter and people take pride in supporting one another. Over the years, it has also grown into a remarkably entrepreneurial city, filled with emerging and expanding small- and medium-sized businesses that reflect the energy, resilience and creativity of this region,” said Pecora. “That environment is a natural fit for community banking.”
GRB has consistently appeared on both the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Top 100 list and the Best Companies to Work for in New York list.
In 2020, Standard & Poor Global Market Intelligence named GRB one of the “Best-Performing Community Banks for 2020.” Ranking at no. 23, GRB was the only bank in New York state on the nationwide list. GRB has also been a leading lender for the U.S. Small Business Administration for the last decade.
