Save a Life on May 24 - Actually, Make it Three Lives

American Red Cross logoOn Thursday, May 24 the Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Genesee Regional Bank's Winton Road location from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. GRB is proud to partner with the American Red Cross and be a part of all they do for our community, our country and around the world. Our blood drive is important to patients in need, but the collection and distribution of blood is just a small part of all the Red Cross does:

  • Every 60 seconds, 44 people in America are assisted by the American Red Cross.
  • 15,500 people every day receive lifesaving Red Cross health and safety training.
  • 1,000 times a day the Red Cross provides services to military members, their families and veterans.
  • 190 times a day Red Cross workers help families affected by a home fire or disaster.

From a blood supply standpoint:

  • Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives.
  • The Red Cross must collect 14,000 units of blood each day.
  • The blood collected by the Red Cross helps millions of patients in over 2,400 hospitals across the country.
  • 80 percent of blood donations are given at blood drives are hosted by sponsoring organizations like ours.

Appointments for the GRB Blood Drive can be made in advance by clicking here.  We hope you can join us to give blood and save lives!

GRB Sponsoring Fundraiser for Veterans Outreach Center in July

GRB Sponsoring Fundraiser for Veterans Outreach Center in July

Organization logo for the VOC GRB Mortgage is pleased to announce it is sponsoring a fundraiser to benefit our local service men and women. The celebration of our country's freedom on July 4 is a great time to remember how many people have made sacrifices so that we can all continue to enjoy that freedom. To honor them, GRB Mortgage will donate $25 for every residential mortgage application taken in the month of July to the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC).

For those of you who may not be familiar with VOC, the organization was established in 1973 and provides comprehensive resources to current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families through direct service, community collaboration and advocacy. This includes providing a wide range of services such as benefits counseling, job training and placement, mentoring, legal resources, therapy services, housing assistance and much more.

There are a number of great success stories featured on the organization's Web site. You can learn more about VOC and follow their efforts on their Web site at www.vocroc.org, on Twitter @VOCROC and on Facebook @vocroc1973. Also, look for VOC at the July 4 Red Wings games!

Check back on the GRB home page at www.GRBbank.com throughout the month of July to see our fundraising progress! If you are interested in a purchase or refinance, talk to our mortgage team.

Spread the word and we thank you in advance for your support of our local service men and women.
